FAQs
Answers to Your Most Common Questions
What makes seamless gutters better than sectional gutters from a hardware store?
Sectional gutters are pre-cut and joined together on-site, which means every joint is a potential leak point. Seamless gutters are manufactured in one continuous length to fit your home exactly, so there are no joints along the run of the gutter. At Seamless Kings, we bring our fabrication equipment directly to your property on our "factory on wheels" and form each gutter to the precise measurements of your roofline. This custom fit means a tighter seal, better water flow, and a system that holds up far longer under the freeze-thaw cycles common throughout the Annapolis Valley. What sizes of gutters do you offer, and how do I know which one is right for my property?
We install 5-inch aluminium gutters for residential homes and 6-inch aluminium gutters for light commercial properties. The right size depends on the surface area of your roof and how much water it sheds during heavy rainfall. Larger roof surfaces produce higher volumes of runoff, so a 6-inch system handles that drainage more effectively and reduces the risk of overflow. During your free estimate, we assess your specific roof geometry and recommend the appropriate size. There's no guesswork involved; the system is built to match your property's actual needs. What are leaf guards, and do I actually need them in the Annapolis Valley?
Leaf guards are covers or inserts that sit over or inside your gutters to stop debris from building up and blocking water flow. In the Annapolis Valley, where deciduous trees are common and autumn leaf fall is heavy, clogged gutters are a real and recurring problem. We carry three systems: Leaf Relief, which carries the Good Housekeeping Seal; Alu-Rex T-Rex, a continuous hanger system with a lifetime sturdiness warranty that also functions as an ice and snow guard; and DoublePro, a dual-action system built for maximum drainage performance. All three are available for new installations or as a retro-fit on existing gutters. How does the T-Rex continuous hanger system protect gutters during winter?
The Alu-Rex T-Rex system replaces traditional bracket hangers with a continuous support that runs the full length of the gutter. This distributes the weight of ice and snow evenly across the entire system rather than concentrating stress at individual hanger points, which are the most common failure spots in winter. The result is a gutter that stays properly aligned and structurally sound even under heavy snow loads. This matters in the Annapolis Valley, where freeze-thaw cycles can put significant strain on standard gutter hardware over the course of a single winter. The T-Rex system comes with a lifetime sturdiness warranty. What hardware do you use, and why does it matter?
Every installation we do uses stainless steel screws and rubber boots for downpipe connections. Stainless steel screws resist corrosion far better than standard galvanised fasteners, which can rust and loosen over time, especially in a coastal climate like Nova Scotia's. Rubber boots create a tight, sealed transition at every downpipe junction, preventing leaks at those connection points. These aren't upgrades you have to ask for; they're standard in every job we complete. The goal is to eliminate every possible failure point in the system from the moment we install it.What does soffit and fascia installation involve, and why is proper venting important?
Soffit is the material covering the underside of your roof's overhang, and fascia is the trim board that runs along the roofline where gutters are typically attached. We supply and install both using vented vinyl or aluminium soffit and custom-made aluminium fascia formed to fit your home's specific dimensions. A critical part of our soffit process is venting the existing old soffit before covering it with new vented soffit. Skipping this step traps moisture and heat in the attic, which can lead to mould, rot, and structural damage over time. Proper ventilation is as important as the finished appearance. How much does gutter installation cost, and do you provide free estimates?
Yes, we provide free estimates on all jobs. Gutter cost and pricing depends on several factors: the linear footage of gutters required, the system size (5-inch or 6-inch), whether leaf guards or ice guards are included, and the complexity of your roofline. Because every gutter is custom-manufactured on-site to fit your specific property, pricing is assessed after a proper site review rather than quoted as a flat per-foot rate. Contacting us for a free estimate is the most accurate way to get a clear picture of what your project will cost.Is Seamless Kings Rain Gutters insured, and how long have they been in business?
Yes, Seamless Kings Rain Gutters is fully covered by Workers' Compensation, which protects you as a homeowner from liability in the event of an on-site injury during your project. We've been in business for over 50 years and are a family-run, multi-generational operation based in the Annapolis Valley. Over that time, we've installed thousands of miles of gutters throughout the region, which means our experience with local weather conditions, building styles, and material performance is extensive. That track record is something newer contractors simply can't offer.
